HS Posters, would YOU start Connolly?

Replying To GreenandRed:  "I think we need another option to mark Diarmuid Connolly. Chris Barret, Paddy Durcan, possibly Brendan Harrison. Even though he's not a wing back he's a very good man marker. Lee hasn't been hitting his high standards attacking-wise in his last few games. But we'll need him on the front foot more in the final."
He hasn't but would never drop him if I was in Mayo's shoes. Wasn't he the one player who got Mayo going in an overall poor display v Rosscommon? (first game). So his form is not that bad. Would be madness to leave him out of an AI final. Would change the keeper before I took that drastic action :)

Brian McGuigan made a good point on the SG last night that Bernard Brogan and Connolly will be raring togo in training after getting 2 min game time between them.

I've been saying it for a while that Con Callaghan is the business and he proved yesterday he's the real deal. At 21 he's way ahead of what Connolly was at that age.

Callaghan's temperament is another huge bonus.

Now i'm not saying he'll breeze the final, naturally at his age he has to develop his physique a bit. For example Colm Kavanagh brushing him aside for a point.

Connolly may very well be needed much earlier in the final.

Him and Lee Keegan again.. Jesus!

I can't see Connolly starting the final. Why would Gavin now? Same still applies to Connolly as it did before Tyrone. He's a liability that Dublin don't need to win the All Ireland.

The team that you put out is not the one that's the "best" it's the one that's most likely to win.

If Connolly started you'd probably see the handicap move more in Dublin's favour but the odds of Mayo winning tighten. He's just such a risk to get sent off. In the scenarios where Dublin lose this game a lot of the time it'll be because they've gone a man down. He's not a risk worth taking, from the start anyway.

Being a few comments about Mayo having better options and he's not in form etc.....

Well there it is, no DC in line up. Might get a run but who knows. Gavin is right though, you have to stick with winning formula.

Wouldn't take the named 15 as gospel. Scully wasn't named to start the semi final.

Think Dermo starts now, seeing as he wasn't named in the ghost 15 to start.

There is always a change to Gavins teams, not sure if it's Dermo though.

I'd leave Connolly where he is personally, I would put Flynn in if I was making a change. Bring Connolly in around 50-55 minutes.

There is a strong argument based on recent games that O'Callaghan is a more effective player at 11 anyway. Tomorrow will be a big test for him as Tyrone didn't really tag him and he did massive damage early in the game. Mayo won't make that mistake. I can't remember a player this good at that age in some time, he looked like the leader of that attack so it'll be fascinating to see how he does in his first final.

You put out your best team. Connolly should start.

Moving outside my 'Total Indifference' for a minute there's NO way Gavin will start Connolly. Why would he, what could Dublin do better with him than they haven't been doing up to now? I would go so far as to say they look a better, tighter unit without Connolly and that maybe Gavin is looking for a Dublin squad and future beyond Connolly.
