Just for sh##s and giggles
Now that we are down to two teams and after a year of some outstanding hurling, anyone want to hazard a guess at who will make the all stars...? I know a lot will depend on the final itself but who should be in...?...might be in..? Discuss..

All I know for sure is there won't be a Kilkenny man on it for the first time in about 20 years.

Will Brick be the second Waterford hurler to win All Stars as a back, midfielder and forward. Has had a fantastic year for Waterford hope he gets a hold of an All Ireland medal a Trojan down the years, also a fantastic footballer that would have graced any county team in his prime.

If Galway win all Ireland there's a chance they will get at least 9. If Waterford win they will probably get 7. Still hard to guess it's actually been a very open championship but Waterford knocking out Cork,Kilkenny and the up and coming Wexford has been fairly impressive.

Off the top of my head the only certs are paudie maher, Jamie Barron, Kevin Moran and conor whelan. Outside of that I'd imagine Fitzgibbon will get the other midfield spot. Mcinerney will prob get centre back but that could go to de burca if Waterford win. Noel connors is prob nailed on too and Padraig mannion is in a good position. Joe canning in my opinion as well as Gleeson if he doesn't get suspended anyway need to be man of match in final to get on the team. Canning is about 4th choice galway forward at this stage in the all sstars pecking order. Whelan the two cooneys are certainly ahead of him. As are John McGrath, Moran walsh and even Maurice shanahan. Not to mention Horgan, Lehane and cadogan. All depends on the final

Not trying to be smart but I think that's a fairly poor effort!

Don't think p Maher is a certainty at all. Tipp beat no-one of note in championship. Mcinerney, mannion are guaranteed in the half back line and then you have one place left for a Waterford half back or Coleman. Barron is hurler of the year so far. Then Conor Whelan.

I'd 100% agree on Barron followed by whelan at this point. Disagree on paidi. If tipp were in the final he'd prob be second or third favourite for hurler of the year. You could argue gakway bear no one of note either considering how poor tipp were all year

O'Keefe - Waterford Tuohy - Galway Burke - Galway Connors - Waterford Harte - Galway Mc Inerney - Galway Murphy - Wexford Barron (Hurler of the year) - Waterford Mc Cormack - Tipp Chin - Wexford Canning - Galway J Cooney - Galway Whelan - Galway Horgan - Cork C Cooney - Galway Kevin Moran, paudie maher, brick walsh, coleman and nash could all also be in there. I'm surprised to see so little talk of murphy from wexford. I thought he was great this year.

Paudie and Kevin Moran walk into that team. You've picked McCormack on one game (albeit was one of the performances of the year) and you've picked canning on 15 mins. Even Niall Burke has scored a good bit more than canning this year not mention the rest of the Galway forwards. He was also completely marked out of the game by Mathew ohanlon in the Leinster final. Never hit one ball from play.

All Stars so far: The ones with ** after them are ones that I think are guaranteed an All-Star regardless of what happens in the final. Others are subject to change depending on performances or lack of performances in the final. Nash (The better goalie in the final will almost certainly get it) Spillane (Wont get one, Hanbury or Touhy, depends on the final) Burke** Connors ( Should get one, barring an awful final) Mannion McInerney Coleman (Incredibly competitive line. Obviously Gleeson could take a spot here. Good performaces Philip Mahony, Darragh Fives, Aidan Harte and possibly even Tadhg De Burca could see them take a spot. Lack of performances could see Padraig Maher take one.) Gleeson (Position may change and if he misses the final he won't get one, good games from David Burke or Johnny Coen would see them take it. Lee Chin or Kevin Moran could be picked here if the two Galway lads underperform.) Barron** J Cooney Canning** Kevin Moran (If Pauric Mahony or Brick Walsh out perform Cooney in the final they could take his spot. Lee Chin also a possibility) Whelan** Horgan C Cooney (Conor Cooney highly likely but not 100% guaranteed, it would take a very bad performance from him coupled with a huge performance from Brick or Bennett for him not to get one)

To be honest I don't think any Wexford player did enough consistently this year to be an All Star - Chin was great against Kilkenny but then went missing for a lot of the LF and was out of it against Waterford. The Wexford lads have earned their praise and support for what they did this year but might suit them all better if it was left at that.

No other Wexford player in contention.

Wexford have a centre back in the form of Matthew O Hanlon who had an outstanding league campaign and then went on in the championship to mark Walter Walsh, Joe Canning and Austin Gleeson holding all 3 of them to a total of 2 points from play whilst contributing 3 points from play himself. If that's not a real candidate for an all star I'm not sure what is?

My 2 cents..I think tiobraid has it pretty close with his assessment...but as mentioned, a lot depends on the final..

Would say Matthew O'Hanlon is more deserving than Chin myself. Jamie Barron is a cert for HOTY if Waterford win the All-Ireland, I think Conor Whelan is the pick of the bunch otherwise.

An Alll Star candidate is someone who is hyped up by the media regardless of how well they play! You're spot on with O'Hanlon. People have Canning nailed on but he never got one ball in his hand in the Leinster final never mind scoring.
