U17's Rossies Beat Kerry

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

It's great for the lads that it's in croke park, many of whom will never get another chance to play there. The u17 games haven't attracted huge crowds to date so if it was stand alone there was no guarantee it would have a big crowd anyway. Id say Roscommon will easily get 1000-2000 between club tickets and further general sale. It's a long day for Tyrone fans but I'm sure a good few will make the effort to come in early. As a Tyrone fan I'm looking forward to the triple header, 3 great games ahead.

Ros won a Celtic challenge trophy v Armagh in hurling earlier in the Summer. Make it a double now v Tyrone in football now....would be some achievement for a county with small enough numbers but limitless passion for GAA .

sadly meath had their worst display of the year against tyrone. not long after winning leinster may have taken a bit of focus of them. best of luck to both teams in the final.

Lads that play at that age group won't remember the size of the crowd they will go to their graves telling everyone they played in Croker, massive for them

That's interesting.I thought Tyrone were very good but perhaps it's that Meath didn't play well on the day against them.

Get with it, Meath always have an off day whenever they are beat according to some. Look at the treads on the senior and minors this year too. Never anything to do with the opposition playing better on the night or simply being a better team. No Meath have had an off day.

Not all Meath fans are as deluded as you think. Yes it was by far Meaths worst performance of but if you actually read our own thread on the U17s you will see that Tyrone were the better team and deserved their win. Fair play to the Rossies on their victory over Kerry and best of luck to both teams in the final, should be a great game.

How would you rate Tyrone's U17s.I hadn't expected Roscommon to beat Kerry. It's great to be in an All-Ireland Final in Croke Park.Hopefully we'll have a better day than on our last visit.

This game was fixed for next Sunday before the minor match but a few weeks back the Kerry cb put pressure on to have it switched as they were going to be in the minor that day and their minors and u17 could not play on the same day as they had players involved with both teams, how ironic is that? Trust them Rossies to upset the apple cart.

Aah I know not all Meath supporters are that bad, that's why I said some Meath supporters, unfortunately the "some" are a complete pain who are giving the rest of you a bad reputation on here.

Tbh only saw them once, not a bad bunch but as always at that level hard to predict how they will go from one day to the next and gauge just how good the opposition were. A good number got their place on this years minor team which I felt possibly left the game behind them in Celtic Park considering the position they were in at halftime but perhaps that's doing a disservice to a decent Derry outfit. Anyway here's hoping for a good game Sunday week and an occasion for both bunch of young lads to saviour.

They have Canavans lad up front with a young lad from killeeshil called Tomas Hoy who's just as good - so excellent up front - I believe Rossies are a more physical stronger specimen but they have young Carey and Gillooly who are stars in making up front. May come down to the weather on the day - but agree at this age group who knows.

Doesn't it make you feel old when you remember players fathers like yesterday?

McManus father Tony from Roscommon, Dean Rock, Adrian Ronan and DJ's young lads in the KK full back line, Ray McCarron's son Jack, Canavan's young lad, Tommy Walsh Kerry and David Moran, Killian Spillane, Aidan Carr Down, Richie and John Power KK, the Brogans etc..

Even retired fellas like Ken McGrath's father playing!!

Though i think i've yet to remember a present day player's grandfather playing but give it a year or 2!

I think this under 17 team is one of the best young teams to come out of Tyrone and I expect them to win on Sunday week. Two very good forwards who could make quick progress to the senior ranks. Tyrone's minor team were also were very unlucky this year and I would suggest the merging of these two panels will ensure Tyrone will be favourites to win the under 20 competition in 2019.

I hope Croke Park sees fit to have both teams included in the match programme on this very special day for the young lads. There was no programme printed for the Roscommon v Kerry semi-final game in Ennis which was a disgrace and a complete snub and slur to the players, their families and their county supporters.

Tyrone are very lucky to be in the final with them catching Meath on an off day...........

Ah know hard what way it will go, One thing i will say though is you would do well to find anyone in Roscommon who would have predicted us getting to the final at the start of the year. We shipped a 36 point challenge defeat to Kerry in March only to improve massive and beat them against the odds last week. Would be great to be first county to get a hold of the _________ Cup.

TG4 will show the Final live.

Wonder why we even bother with RTE, give everything to TG4
