Kieran Donaghy is still the King of the opposing square

Replying To Liamwalkinstown:  "Don't be atall surprised if Kerry abandon that strategy if they meet Dublin
Time and again they have tried it and time and again he has been snuffed out
It worked at the weekend but try it against the Dubs FB line and it will fail, again....
The way to beat the Dubs is not the big 14 on the edge of the square, as Donaghy has found to his cost time and again
The way to beat Dublin is to stretch the FB line to the wings and Kerry have just the boys to do it if the delivery is good"
Well according to the Mr Hickey a member of the Dublin camp they are going to win 5 in a row and Kerry are no good so it doesn't matter what we do anyway

Serious asset to a team. Very strong under a high ball and brilliant hands. Quick thinker, good vision and deadly finisher. If the delivery in is accurate then you really are running the gauntlet with him. If you can pressure the kicker out the field and disrupt the accuracy of the delivery, you give your defenders the advantage.

Replying To SaffronDon:  "did you even read my second paragraph before you reacted with the same bitterness you're accusing me of having?

i said he was a top player. i also said that he had the best supply line a full forward could ask for, unless you're going to down talk your own county's forward line, which i doubt given your fanboy reaction!"
I did apologise above mate. Just everybody seems to be lining up to knock the man lately. No offence intended.

Don't think its a great sign for Kerry to be depending on him-he was very good but thats along time ago and hes been figured out. Galway were extremely naive and he has never delivered against Dublin which is the acid test these days.

I expect he will be suspended for 12 weeks anyway after the incident with Kyne.

Haha He said it in 2013 and to be fair only for one loss against Donegal this would be four in a row, you were wrong Dr. Hickey the game is a cruel mistress, or were you! :)

no bother. Donaghy is one of those in your face type of players. Some can't see past those type of things to his actual ability. I think that is what you see from some people on here.

Although when you read the likes of.the opening post to this thread sometimes you just have to call it what it is, an overreaction. Yes he is a very dangerous player and has proved so, but he's not unplayable or too hot to handle even if he has days like that in his locker. I think he has benefited from not being the main threat up front in all the Kerry teams he's played on. It used to be about stopping Gooch and you stand a chance. Now its JO'D and Geaney. They are perfect decoy players for Donaghy's own performances.

I have no problem with his opinion whatsoever, in fact I appreciate his total honesty and illustrates what the Dublin mgmt really think as opposed to the patronising nonsense Gavin comes out with before and after games

Replying To westkerry:  "One swallow? 4 all Ireland's in his pocket... One swallow alright.
Donnaghy is in the best shape in the last 5/6 years , slimmed down, more agile and his catching has improved again.
Like Murphy or O Shea he gets very little of the refs, curse of the big man."
there are Kilkenny hurlers retired with 4/5 and maybe more medals in their pockets who were not on starting 15 for them big games like Finals etc, people cannot even think of their names even now, yet they were good players whom impacted when brought on...so players can have 4/5 all Irelands in their pockets (in Kilkenny and Kerry anyway) and doesn't necessarily mean they are "great players"...Donaghy is very good no doubting that..is he the greatest??...dunno....I am being honest now..

Didn't the Dublin county board hire a basketball coach 2 years ago?

And haven't ye tried eoghan ogara in the Kieran donaghy roll several times but not to good effect, so obviously Jim gavin appreciates the tactic.

Yeah the goal he got Sunday, he wouldn't get such a chance against Dublin or Tyrone. If we were playing Kerry tomorrow, I would pick Geaney or JOD as players to worry about more than Donaghy.

Didn't Kerry try this before but with the twin towers and they didn't work out in final - but agree it's a good game plan to have long ball and running game together as this keeps the opposition on their toes.

Yes, you would have to agree that Donaghy is king of the square and if you challenge him in there you would need some neck protection.

But as we found out in the Sindo this weekend Dublin aren't worried about Kerry either way so please stop with the patronising guff
