Dublin vs Monaghan

Replying To Dubfire:  "Cork has far more registered GAA clubs than Dublin (nearly double in fact) and there are over half a million people in Cork. Would you be harping on about his stuff if you were playing Cork at the weekend?

Of course you wouldn't.

It's sad really. But carry on making excuses and blaming circumstances beyond your control and see how much that helps with development."
I think you missed my point, obliquely made as it was. Nobody in Monaghan is 'harping on' or complaining about circumstances, in fact more than most counties we have worked damn hard to put perceived disadvantages behind us and work with whats available. This team is in another quarter final as a result, as much on merit as anyone else.
Now nobody is naive enough to expect a win. But that doesnt matter, we are still there to win, not to give the Dubs a good game or to be a test case for semi final opponents, but to push our own claims for a semi spot. That has to be respected, just as Monaghan people respect the pure football ethos of this Dublin team.
A Monaghan win wont happen, the Brigids comparison shows it almost logically cant happen. So Dublin lads can stop trying to worry themselves by falsely talking up our chances, just relax and enjoy the buildup. We will too, but for very different reasons.
Jaysis Im getting tired and emotional already and its only 11.30 on the Tuesday....

Absolutely anything can happen in sport and has. It wasn't so long ago that Donegal beat us well when all around weren't giving them a chance. Lessons hopefully have been learnt from that defeat both as a team and as supporters.

Yeah possibly so, I didn't actually see or get to the Tyrone game that evening as I had a family event I couldn't get out of, but even if that was the case:
A - it has no real relevance on what will happen between MONAGHAN and Dublin this week
B - it possibly does show that Dublin will have more running power in the last 15, which again I'll state is what the debate started over.

Apparently the spread on the match is for Monaghan to within 9 points of Dublin by the end. It will be interesting to see if they will be. I think if they are it won't be by much. Especially if Monaghan start as slowly as they have been is games this year, do that against Dublin and you are dead and buried early. As we know to our own cost! Good div 1 team but I think August against Dublin in Croke Park, I think the margin will be close to double figures like the leinster final.

In my opinion I think Monaghan could beat Dublin tomorrow, Monaghan have been pottering along playing in fits and starts not setting the world a blaze but still winning away and they could be due a burst.

The only thing that could stand in Monaghans way tomorrow is if they don't truely believe in them selves, a lot of teams are already beat before they hit the pitch against the dubs.

"The only thing that could stand in their way":)....Am sure Monaghan fully expect Dublin to try stand in their way.

Often said for the underdogs that they must believe. Well and good but Monaghan need to play out of their skins tonight. I am in the group who think they will push Dublin but fall short in the last 20 minutes. Reality is they must do what higher rated teams have failed to do.

As usual the ref giving Dublin everything. It's hard enough for teams like mayo and Kildare to beat them as it is but it's nearly impossible when this is going on.

Long ball into mcmanus. He's fouled. No free. Dublin go up and get given a free. The point is not only does he only apply the rules to one side, Dublin shouldn't even have had that attack. Should have been a free into monaghan and a badly needed score for them.

Monaghan players playing with absolutely no belief - if they're not careful it could be a repeat of first game.
