The Hill end slip

(Oldest Posts First)

Reading a post somewhere here after the Dublin v Kildare game about players slipping on the relaid grass after the Coldplay concert at the hill end of HQ I couldn't believe it was as bad till I witnessed it myself yesterday in both games all be it after the U2 concert, will this improve much for next weekend ? I'm sure the experts will not agree with a humble supporter like me commenting on this...

I think the pitch is in shocking condition. I haven't seen it this bad in a long time, granted there's been 2 concerts on it within a month.
It's not just the number of players that were slipping over the weekend but you could also see the bounce of the ball defying the laws of physics at times.

It was obvious to all yesterday that the pitch was not 100%.
Shame on the GAA for staging concerts there in the middle of the championship.

Croke Park pitch is like an ice rink when it rains...I don't know if concerts have anything to do with it but surly work can be done? Ogs. Wen like that for years now.

It wasn't just the slipping either, there's a very bad bounce on the pitch. I saw players bounce the ball and it seemed to take far too much of a forward bounce which was unnatural.

It was fecked after the Cold Play concert and it's still fecked after the U2 concert

The rain def didn't help. No doubt.

But even after the Cold Play concert on a bone dry and very warm summer day both Kildare and Dublin players were slipping all over the place and it was balatently obvious that it wasn't fit for purpose

And that's on a perfect day and perfect conditions.

Jim Gavin made a comment about the stage of the pitch in that area

He was almost heckled for stating an accurate assessment at the time..

Know look...

It's a fecking mess down that end and this is what you get when they dig up the pitch during the height of the championship
