Why are Kerry considered as better than Mayo?

Where on earth do they get some of their notions from?"
Faith, tradition and the lessons of history would be my guess...

I don't listen to Terrace Talk any more but I can tell you that's no a fair reflection on people's views in Kerry. I don't think many Kerry fans would back us against Dublin at the moment

That's exactly what it was, hardly constructive analysis though!

I would be inclined to agree with you, TT is starting to sound prehistoric, hope for your sake EF is not in that club.
And the amount of pressure already being put on Clifford's shoulders is worrying,

Mickey Harte said the same thing after Mayo lost to Dublin in last year's replayed All Ireland. He reckoned that his team would have beaten Dublin.....well we know how that turned out when he got his chance......

Goulding, Kerrigan, O'Connor, Kelly in their pomp, Pearse O'Neill etc
A young Colm O'Neill and Ciaran Sheehan

How could you not rate them??

If anything they under delivered"
Ah come on you. What did Cork beat that a year. Limerick by a point on a day when Pat Spillane, never a zealous fan of Lk, strongly stated stated that John Galvin was denied not one but two penalties and Down, also by a point, a team not heard of before or since, when their best midfielder was off. If Tomas O'Shea was on would Down have beaten Kerry?

Replying To TheHermit:  "They won an All-Ireland in 2010 and not one of their forwards was an All-Star that year, I think that was a justified (if controversial) decision."
And one of their midfielders was on when John Galvin was head and shoulders the best midfielder in Ireland that year.

I listened to TT for the first and last time on the Monday after Kerry were defeated in the semi replay. I was prompted by a friend to tune in online. I only lasted a couple of minutes. Surprised to hear such prehistoric and arrogant out of touch nonsense.
Not surprised you no longer listen to TT. Id hope for Kerrys sake that the people in charge of GAA in Kerry do not have the same mindset as the contributors to TT. If they do then they won't be challenging Dublin for a long time

Replying To Forpucksake:  "No cute hoorism here, just wondering why time and time again I read Dublin and Kerry are miles ahead of the rest.

Mayo in my opinion have been the closest to Dublin by far in recent years. Dublin beat us last year, and if it wasn't for the two Cluxon errors the score line would have been a lot less flattering. The year before in the final was completely one sided, how we only lost by 3 points still baffles me. We simply were never in the game.

During the same period Mayo take Dublin to a replay in the semi and the final respectively, and looked the better team in the replay, bar some ridiculous kick outs.

The fact we beat the Dubs in the league final doesn't wash as an argument for me. I've been watching football long enough to not take too much notice of games played in the spring.

Is it mainly due to the fact that Mayo have looked so out of form so far? Weren't they at a fairly similar position last year though? Over recent years form prior to the quarterfinals hasn't been the best yardstick for where a county is at.

A lot of people might point to the 2014 semifinal, but in all honesty Mayo were far superior to us in the drawn game. If it wasn't for Donaghy causing some chaos, we would have been gone.

Just interested to hear some thoughts on why Kerry are considered so far ahead of Mayo"
It is difficult to disagree with the above and it has been borne out this year.

Mayo are a better team than Kerry at present though obviously it's scant consolation.

Mayo are better than Kerry
Thats definite now
Not even sure Kerry are No 3 anymore to be honest, with that defence I could certainly see Tyrone beating them

Kerry won't mind this chat one little bit. As long as they don't win Sam they don't care if they are 2nd or 32nd. They look like they have their house in order for the future. Mayo are not nearly as strong in under age. In 3 years or even 2, I see Kerry back.

Have to agree, i really couldn't be bothered about who is better between Mayo or Kerry.

Having an argument about who's second and third best is like two bald men fighting over a comb.

Kerry have a trophy this season and Mayo don't, and Kerry have 37 All Irelands and Mayo have 3. So yes Kerry are the better team since Gaelic football began.

Fair play one of the few to bother reading what they wrote a few months ago and admit they got it wrong ,

I said the league was a blip in that I knew there was only one thing on this teams mind winning in Sept , Paul Geaney has come out and stated he believes Kerry peaked to soon this year, there are some who slated Gavin when we lost and didn't buy into peaking , there's a thread showing the age of a fair few of our lads it takes serious planning and good coaching to deliver lads at that age in perfect tuned condition on the day.

As for Kerry Mayo very little between them but one is seen as perennial losers and the other as royalty, it will probably always go against Mayo until they get their hands on Sam

37 All Irelands could have something to do with it, I was surprised they didn't do better against Mayo, I expected them to run Dublin close this year, with Clifford on board next year they will be better again, stopping Dublin's 4 in a row bid will be a big motivator, not sure how this super 8 scenario is going to pan out though, could be good for teams like us if we can get that far, hopefully Bonner will get all our best players back on the panel now, bet we draw Fermanagh in Ballybofey in the first round of Ulster.
