B side quarter final pairings

(Oldest Posts First)

am I right in thinking that teams who play each other in their province before their respective semi final can meet each other again in the qualifiers? if that's true, then down (who played both monaghan, semi final and armagh, quarter final) will automatically play Armagh again and monaghan will in turn play kildare in round 4b ?

if that's the case, does it mean the quarter finals are dublin v ulster final loser (or team that defeats them, ie dublin v down/armagh) and Tyrone v leinster finalist (or team that defeats them, ie, Tyrone v kildare/monaghan. ??

right or wrong?

That sounds about right. Whoever plays Dublin in the quarter final are getting hammered.

As far as I know there will be a draw to see who plays who in round 4B:

Kildare v Armagh/Monaghan
Down v Armagh/Monaghan

For the quarter-finals the only stipulation is that teams that have met in a provincial final cannot meet again. So the quarter-finals will be:

Kerry v Donegal/Galway
Roscommon v Cork/Mayo
Tyrone v Kildare/Armagh/Monaghan
Dublin v Down/Armagh/Monaghan

Kerry could still play Mayo and Roscommon could play Donegal. If both Donegal and Mayo win there will be a draw for the quarterfinals.

Down have beaten both monaghan and Armagh so they would have to have a draw tomorrow to decide which they play again it has to be one of them

Down can play Armagh or Monaghan even though they have played both in Ulster I believe.
So example Monaghan vs Down. Armagh vs Kildare.
Next draw Tyrone and Dublin in one pot.
Monaghan or Down in one pot. Armagh or Kildare in same pot. Draw to see who plays who on Saturday 5th I believe.
May be wrong there. Open for correction

If Kildare and Monaghan avoid each other in the draw tomorrow, It is possible to have 7 division 1 teams in the q/finals. League form counts for nothing eh?

Does the same apply in hurling - that is, the AI SFs do not automatically incl. Cork v Wexf or Waterf - if both Tipp and Waterf win, a SF draw is req'd ? I find this ridiculous - if one or neither wins, SFs are all set - why not do the same if both win - a needless wrinkle ?
