This is about the Sunday game going after a player and sparking an avalanche of attacks from numerous sources. What O'connor did was far worse than what Connolly did and not a word in the press after the small mention on the Sunday game.

Don't think it is. I'm calling for a more balanced analytical approach from the Sunday game. My previous posts show that over numerous threads. Great article here I think that sums up alot of people's frustrations with the Sunday Game. Some people appear to want Sunday Game to continue down the same old road but as long as it doesn't involve any of their own players. Highlight incidences that occur over a weekend sure but do not be selective. http://www.irishexaminer.com/sport/gaa/who-should-make-the-walk-of-atonement-454787.html Weary (None) - Posts: 249 - 14/07/2017 09:41:39 2016391 Link 0 |
One of the biggest problems with the program is having a balance, when say kerry play dublin on the sunday game should be pat and ciaran not pat and colm as nobody can defend dublin in this instant. we had it last year in the all ireland final when dublin played mayo and ciaran whelen pointed out anything and everything about lee keegen which set a agenda for every past dublin player demanding the ref deals with keegan which in turn led to ref giving a black card for a yellow card offence, not once did Ciaran show highlights or mention what cooper or philiy was doing off the ball in the final, there should have been a mayo man in the studio showing clips and discussing dublins defending. I have no problem with the Sunday game or any post game analysis discussing and reviewing incidents or flashpoints. My issue and I would think alot of Dublin supporters are of the same thinking Is, they put alot of emphasis on certain players and certain incidents while other sometimes far more cynical or violent incidents get little or no attention. And if a player does come in for close or prolonged attention on the program, that story carries on in the Media the following week.

It'll be very interesting Sunday night to see if any off the ball incidents involving Dublin and Kildare players will be highlighted on he Sunday game , KingdomBoy1 (Kerry) - Posts: 14092 - 14/07/2017 12:09:13 2016475 Link 1 |

''Mickey Harte proved today that he is not in the business of entertaining'' .. said Colm O Rourke after Tyrone scored 22 points v Derry. What is this pundits' agenda ??? Tyrone followed up by posting 1-21 against Donegal. What more can Mickey Harte do to satisfy him? Curlew66 (Roscommon) - Posts: 504 - 14/07/2017 14:23:59 2016539 Link 0 |
First of all the Sunday game needs to changed, if they want a discussion show fair enough follow TG4. If they want a specific game highlight show fair enough but do a proper round up of games and not the current catch all. There are bigger issues here, GAA sporst and in afct all sports are fighting a battle for the hearts and minds of young people. GAA needs to look at all media outlets and all types of programing to try and enhance their sport. Holding tsome games off for a few bob to be shown in public houses is a rubbish ancient way of promoting any sport. Young people interact so differently with everything that is were we need to be investing. Colm O'Rourke saying re Micky Harte that his job is not to entertain is true for Micky Harte but for the GAA and RTE it is absolutely paramount that the games featured are indeed entertaining. I fear if we maintain panels with ancient players harking back to a bye-gone era and endlessly courting controversy the sport is doomed, arock (Dublin) - Posts: 4895 - 15/07/2017 19:24:24 2017092 Link 1 |

It's square peg in round hole stuff. Despite what's in front of you and following another comprehensive win against Down with big scores and from all over the pitch - the narrative remains that Tyrone will not win AI as they don't score enough goals.
