Connolly interfering with match official

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Good to hear that Diarmuid Connolly is free to train with the Dublin team. Common sense has prevailed.
Hopefully he will have learnt from the twelve week match ban and concentrate on his gift at playing class
football. So much for Tommy Lyons (former Dublin Manager) theory that he did not expect Diarmuid
Connolly to play senior championship football again this year.

Replying To Marse:  "And he's back. Free to train according to the front page. That would make a big difference to his to slot back in, if Dublin make it that far."
I think the ban on all activities is a stupid rule anyway for something that happens on the pitch. If someone gets a 12 suspension then just keep it to games. What the hell benefit does it serve anyone to not be allowed to train for the length of the suspension.

Great. Looking forward to his return. Summer not the same without him.

Look Connolly hasn't said a word it's Brolly and Jim Gavin that keeps this story alive, let Connolly do his ban and when he's available to play again the best of luck to him, Dublin fans naturally will defend their own just like any other supporter from any other county will do, 1 problem I have is enticement to cause trouble and Charlie Redmond's comments on the Sunday World could cause that, he claims that Dublin fans have had enough of him (Connolly) being the whipping boy summer in summer out and that when he eventually returns to play Dublin fans will take the roof off whatever venue he appears at. That kind of wording can cause tension that isn't welcome within our games especially in the stands. He also claims that he can't remember any ex Dublin player sitting in a TV studio quoting chapter and verse of a rule and announcing the punishment for a Meath or Kerry player who had overstepped the mark, well Charlie while it wasn't chapter and verse of a rule ex Dublin player Ciaran Whelan stated on the Sunday game after the drawn All Ireland Final 2016 Dublin v Mayo that officials have to watch off the ball incident and protect Connolly in the replay, he was supported by other ex Dublin players on social media and in newspapers who said the same and there was a campaign to get Lee Keegan punished for any foul in the replay, so Charlie I'm afraid you're comments are a case of the pot calling the kettle black. End this so called story now and let the man get on with his ban and eventually return to him his county colours, summer wouldn't be summer without one of the best defenders Keegan marking the best forward Connolly in our game at the moment

Ya I've said it on many other threads on here as well riverboys that the dubs are trying to write their own version of history.

Good that the training ban is lifted. Too draconian. Anyone know if Comerford is training with the Tipperary team?

There's 4 pages on the Moran thread already, mainly dubs bringing Connolly into it and people replying to that. Connolly was a number of cases where bans were given out for similar incidents, we lost a vital player to it last year but we didn't whinge and blindly defend anyone and aren't now bringing up the incident 9 months or so later. It's a wonder ye think everyone is out to get poor dermo when ye constantly drag back up this stuff and then get replies. Moran should get a ban and not because Connolly got one to prove a point to ye
