Kildare boss Cian O'Neill has confirmed that Neil Flynn will be unavailable for Saturday's All-Ireland SFC qualifier against Armagh at Croke Park.

The Maynooth forward missed out on his side's Leinster final defeat to Dublin last weekend, after suffering a Grade 2 hamstring tear, and has since suffered another set-back in his recovery which means he will play no part against the Orchard men next weekend.

"Neil wasn't available the last day and he won't be available the next day," O'Neill is quoted saying by KildareNow.com.

"We'd hope to have him back, all going well, if we progress to the next round of the championship.

"In fairness, when he got injured initially on training camp he put in a massive shift to get himself back in the reckoning and surely he did; he came on against Laois. It was just a re-occurrence pushing from then for the Leinster final. It's nothing serious, it's just because it's a re-occurrence of the same injury we're being extra cautious.

"Neil is a young man and the last thing you want is a recurring injury at 21, 22 years of age. We're just minding him more than anything but he's back training and back working hard, so we'll step up that in the next couple of weeks."
