Paddy Holloway's season is over after he suffered cruciate ligament damage in Westmeath's Leinster SFC quarter-final replay victory over Offaly last Saturday.

The centre back from Castledaly was forced off in the early stages of the 11-point win in Mullingar and underwent a scan at the Santry Sports Clinic on Sunday. His worst fears have since been realised and he is due to undergo surgery within the next fortnight.

Veteran Francis Boyle scored two points in an excellent performance after replacing Holloway and is set to be included from the start against Dublin on Sunday.

The injury is a big setback to Holloway who rejoined Tom Cribbin's squad at the start of the season after spending last summer in the US.
