Midfielder David Givney says Cavan are ready to take on all-comers.

Confidence is high in the Breffni County following Sunday's impressive Ulster SFC preliminary-round victory over Armagh and Givney believes Terry Hyland's charges can give any other team in the province a run for their money:

"We're a young team and we're playing with abandon," he says in The Irish News. "We don't fear anybody.

"I'd say 80% or 90% of the boys have won Ulster medals and they go into games with a lot of confidence. And we're playing a good style of football too.

"We're playing free-flowing football and we're not afraid of anyone. We'll just take one step at a time.

"I suppose over the last few weeks we were being written off. All the write-ups in the papers were saying 'Armagh this, Armagh that', so we came in under the radar and I think team-work and a hard work ethic won the match for us.

"The press coverage was something we looked at and maybe we weren't getting the respect that we deserved and it definitely was something to get us up for the game."
