A day after an Ulster U15 football colleges match finished 0-2 to 0-1, another underage game in the province yesterday produced another crazy scoreline.
In contrast to Friday's by now infamous Abbey CBS and St Patrick's, Maghera Brock Cup clash, there were scores aplenty in the Ulster Minor League opener between Donegal and Fermanagh in Ballyshannon, but they were all amassed by the home side who were emphatic 3-16 to 0-0 winners.
Fermanagh didn't manage a shot on target until the 47th minute, by which time goals from Johnny McGroddy (penalty) and Paul O'Hare had helped Donegal to a 2-13 to 0-0 lead. Worse was to follow for the visitors when Senan Rooney added a third Donegal goal in the final minute.
The defeat was a chastening experience for new Fermanagh manager Maurice McLaughlin whose hand was severely weakened by the absence of the St Michael's, Enniskillen contingent who are preparing to face Omagh CBS in the MacRory Cup final on March 18.
