Fermanagh manager Rory Gallagher feels that it is imperative that they get off to a good start in the NFL.

The Erne County completed their McKenna Cup campaign last weekend and now full focus is on their opening NFL 2 clash against Cork.

A home game for Gallagher and his charges and one that he feels is imperative that they win if they are to push for promotion.

The Fermanagh boss admitted to the Fermanagh Herald that he is always nervous before the start of the league.

“It’s six, seven, eight years I’m involved in inter-county football and the league is an unbelievably nervy thing,” stressed Gallagher.

“You always want a big start, but I know Cork will want one too. Tyrone and Kerry gave them a fair scutching last year. They have a massive amount of quality players, but we’re happy enough with where we’re at.

“We wanted to have a freshness to things this year, the boys looked after themselves fairly well, I wouldn’t say they’re super fit, but we’re confident that if we keep training and the attitude is good, we’ll be ok.”
