Looks like Keith Andrews is ready to turn down Celtic and move to Bolton instead-good move. That said, he'll only be playing at the same level as Jeff Hendrick of Derby, who I doubt Trapattoni has even heard of, so there will be even less reason to persist with him now.

Paul Green signed for Leeds a couple of days ago, after the aformentioned Hendrick took his place at Derby.

What other Irish players need transfers this summer? I'd love to see James McCarthy at a better club, and it will be interesting to see what happens with the likes of Robbie Brady and Greg Cunningham...

Seamus,

I presume if Andrews went to Celtic he would have a chance of playing in the Champions Leauge or at least the europa league. It's agood move for him financially I'd say. With the midfielders we have in the premier league no one from the championship should get a look in.

Hopefully a premier league club take a punt on Doyle.
Greg Cunningham is very important for the irish teams future as we need a established left full seen as Wilson won't be geeting a look in

Good move for Keith Andrews. He will get more playing time at Bolton than he would at Celtic. I don't think he could break into a midfield of Scott Brown, Kayal and Lee-chung yong.

Hopefully Robbie Brady gets a Premier League loan. I can't see him getting many games in the United first team next year with Nani, Young and Valencia already there.

I wouldn't agree with excluding Championship players entirely, I mean beggars can't be choosers. But there is a big difference between Keith Andrews aged 31 playing in the Championship and Jeff Hendrick a decade younger playing there. I don't know much about Hendrick, or his teammate O'Brien the Derby centre-half but they must have something about them to be playing at that level, in those positions, at their age. They deserve a look-in at senior level, as they could be an important part of our future.

Doyle has had 2 seasons in the PL with Reading and 3 seasons there with Wolves. In that time, he averages about 8 goals per season. He's not a PL centre forward, he just hasn't the goal-scoring abilities. Long looks a better bet for Ireland.

Stephen Ireland may not be on the move but hopefully will be back in the Irish squad for the World Cup qualifiers.

He was our best striker at the Euros Seamus, after St Ledger :(

An 8 goal a season average is better then Long Cox and Walters.
In his time at Wolves he had to sacrifice himself for the team, running the channels holding the ball up bringing others into play. Alot of Fletchers goals last season were a result of Kevin's assists.

I think he is just as good as Grant Holt and Danny Graham and would do better in a better team

Leon Best has joined Blackburn. Good enough move for him, I'd imagine they have the structure and financial clout to bounce back into the PL, if not next year then in the years afterwards. He's only 25, thought he was older. Also, 3 million seems a look good deal-Newcastle only paid 1 million to Coventry for him.

Green to Leeds.
Andrews to Bolton.
Best to Blackburn.

Three Irish players on the move this summer have all ended up in the Championship. That doesn't bode well for us...

I'm a bit surprised that a lower-end Premier League side didn't take a chance on Best, he's shown he can score at that level when given the chance. Blackburn could be down in the doldrums for a few years the way they've been run lately, hope he does well there anyway.

Aberdeen have bolstered their squad with the signing of former Celtic forward Niall McGinn.
The 24-year-old Northern Ireland international made 36 appearances for Celtic before being loaned to League One side Brentford last season.
He has agreed a two-year deal at Pittodrie and Dons boss Craig Brown intends to use McGinn as a striker.

great move for the Tyrone lad .

Greg Cunningham gone to Bristol City from Manchester City. Bit of a step down but he was never likely to get first team football there so probably a good move in the long term. One to keep an eye on, was briefly on the fringe of the senior Ireland side before he broke his leg.

Good interview by Cunningham there, he seems like a smart chap. Hope things work out for him at Birmingham. With Ward in the Championship now too, there's no excuse for not looking at him in the next friendly.

Good move for Cunnningham. He should play every week and wlil be in the Irish squad for the next 10 years. Are their many Irish lads moving in the lower leagues? What about Robbie Brady he needs to play every week.

Looks like Leeds are after Simon Cox. Yet another of our Euros squad playing in the Championship next year if the deal happens. That will be 9 of our squad from the Euros in the second tier of English football with Darren O'Dea not even having a club.

I see Keane was linked with a move back to England in Jan. Is he even of EPL standard anymore?
