http://www.sportingintelligence.com/2012/05/01/revealed-the-worlds-best-paid-teams-man-city-close-in-on-barca-and-real-madrid-010501/This may come as a surprise to some of the more naive La Liga fascists on here. Interesting that the top Spanish, Italian and German sides spend more on wages than the moneybags "sky league" clubs that have no sugar daddy. Barca are more than just a club alright they're a business with whopper debts and huge outlay.

Good to see Barca's real face being revealed. Seriously though, the Bundesliga is the best run league in Europe, and that's the one we should be looking to.

No real surprises on the list, Barca and Real are the two best in the World and spend accordingly. Messi, Xavi, Ronaldo et al don't come cheap. The two Milan teams, Inter in particular, should be a hell of a lot better for the money they're spending. Given their outlay City need to make themselves a major player in Europe over the next few seasons

I think it's fair to say that both sides of the PL debate tend to generalise at times, 32. The 'best league in the world' nonsense irritates me sometimes, but I still like the PL a lot, and I think we're fortunate in Ireland to be right next to it. It's an exciting league, but technically the football is inferior to what you'd see in Spain. That said, the PL is more competitive and interesting than La Liga, so it's swings and roundabouts really.

The issue is the wages paid to average footballers not genuine world class players. Xavi is worth 100k a week, Barry and fat frank are not.

The IPL cricketers are on serious cash considering its only a 2 month or so tournament and a lot of the best paid foreigners are only available for parts of it. Plus its not exactly the most stressful .20/20 and its fairly laid back compared to intl cricket.
