U21 - Dublin v Longford

(Oldest Posts First)

Bad aul weather out there at the minute

Difficult game ahead

Longford beat a much fancied Kildare side, and at one point were playing them off the park until they perhaps sat back a bit and allowed Kildare to rebuild

I was at the U-21 game a few years back when a star studded Dublin side lost to a dogged, defence first counter attack Longford sides, they 100% deserved their victory, that too was contested on a very similar night, heavy pitch, mucky, wet ball

This will be far from easy if Longford bring that sort of game again, Dessie will remember that night all too well.

We'll have to be just as dogged tonight

You always have a chance against a Dublin county or club team on a tight boggey wet pitch. That's how Vincent's didn't win this year , if a Dublin club makes it to Croker you've no chance of beating them. Anyway best of luck to Con and the boys tonight.

Great start to 2nd half.
Con scores a goal for Dubs to add to his points in 1st half.

Stand out player so far.

Dubs 2-10 v 0-09 Longford. FT

It was 2-09 to 0-05 late in 2nd half.

Con, our Baby Faced Assassin, did some damage tonight. A real precocious talent.

Roll on next week v Offaly in the Leinster U21 Final.

I just hope he doesn't get burnt out mate, he's had some amount of club and county gametime in the calendar year, without any real downtime.

I agree - he needs to be managed correctly. But what a talent.

He's played 4 games since January, he was a sub for most of last year with Dublin besides a few cameo's he didn't play for Cuala in Dublin hurling championship he didn't play sigerson or fitzgibbon cause of hurling run if anything he needs games. I'd say jim will have him involved Saturday night he needs to get more game time with the seniors in Croker. Experience experience experience is what it's all about at that age.

Id be happy to see Con get twenty minutes , quoting the games he's played is one thing , very few on here know the amount of training sessions and challenge matches that go on behind closed doors , that said the 3 most qualified people to decide this are Dessie , Jim and Con himself , Id be stunned beyond belief if those lads didn't know the price of eggs , everyone on this site is entitled to their opinion but when it comes to fitness and player welfare Id suggest bowing to the experts .
Can understand the anticipation of wanting to see him get a run for seniors I'm no different myself.
