Replying To hill16no1man:  "Jim Gavin always says the panel is open to players who perform in club championship it will be interesting to see if there's any speculation around a call up to the panel for Mark Vaughan.
In both rounds of the club championship he has been one of the stand out performers overshadowing plenty of forwards in the panel and added to that he's a deadball specialist"
Hahaha you love auld Marko Vaughan you've been on this one along time but I think the ship has sail hill on Mark. No one really mentions him but Colm Basqual is a great player he has loads to
Offer up front blistering pace and an eye for goal I really like him. But the big summer is for Paul Mannion to finally stop forward and say "I'm the man now give me the ball it's my time"

Has all the pace and ability to be a Dublin great just needs to be more consistent and stay injury free.

I'm not sure Gavin's regime caters for resurrections but I'd agree that this is Paul Mannion's summer and it is time for him to shine!

Bring Ray Cosgrave back I bet he could score the 6-20 plus, he scored in whole 2002 championship in this first leinster championship game.

I still feel guilty for f'ing and blinding him, when he missed that kick v armagh....

Having watched crokes play all the talk of Paul mannion summer it was Mark Vaughan alongside him who was crokes best forward. i think mannion has the ability but yet to produce consistently ,Anybody who has been watching club football would know vaughan is the in form forward in Dublin club football so far this year, he always had the ability that's not why he was dropped from the panel but he has a much wiser head on his shoulders nowadays and if Dennis bastick could graduate to inter county football at a later stage it's not like Vaughan would be a new inexperienced guy he's not short of confidence that's for sure. I like seen the best players in form get their chances

Would you believe I used not have any time for him when he first came on the scene with dublin but seen him at club level a lot and i could then clearly see what pillar saw in him. He had his problems through the years like Connolly but seems to have put all that behind him now so i kind of admire him for working his way back to the top of his game and it would be some achievment to make up for lost time and make it back be a great story

Any more news on the possible away day?

Heard Nowlan Park was being mentioned again..

Was hoping for a possible Wexford away day but that was probably always going to be a stretch

Not certain to be in wexford if they beat carlow as seating capacity is currently a problem for them their chairman has stated due to the number of Dublin stand season ticket holders that have to be guaranteed a ticket and it could go to nowlan park it was reported.

Absolutely, we want Wexford in Wexford , Kilkenny was great but something different is always good.

Each to their own n all, but I've more chance of toggin out for Dublin than Mark Vaughan.

Like a failed relationship, ya never go back.

Besides, no point bringing a 31 year old into the panel when you've got lads like McHugh, Costello, Mannion, Con, Aaron Byrne and so on coming through the ranks. Why stunt their development or halt their sky high potential/progress to fit a 31 year old in for the guts of a couple of years.

pointless.

Because he's out performing plenty of the guys quite simply the panel should be picked on the best players available and in the best form. Dennis bastick is a few years older, Bernard brogan and paul Flynn are same age as him. Jim Gavin has previous of selecting players in form and not age.
He recalled Declan o mahony to the panel after about 6or7 years off the Dublin panel and he wasn't even setting the world alight at club level and was a similiar age to Vaughan then. He gave Quinn off n.a. fianna a call up at 30 to the panel.
it's not a creche where we have to get kids ready to play in a couple of years that's what underage is for, I don't believe you are ever too young or too old to play your just either good enough or not good enough.
