Whelan steps up to take charge of Castleknock hurlers

Castleknock senior hurlers welcomed a new management team this week led by club stalwart Damian Whelan.

Whelan, formerly a selector with the Somerton side dons the Banisteoir bib for 2017. He is joined by DCU Fresher's/Fitzgibbon cup coach James Donoghue and long-time Erins Isle player John Carey comes in as selector. Eddie Grange and Neil Kedward complete the backroom staff. Dublin Intermediate Champions in 2015 the west Dublin club have yet to taste success at senior level.

Speaking to hoganstand.com Whelan was looking forward to the coming year. Praising his Castleknock charges he said"There a great bunch of lads, great spirit, and hungry for success."
