Dublin hurling boss Mattie Kenny during the win over Carlow

Considering the inclement weather conditions, Dublin manager Mattie Kenny was pleased with how his players applied themselves in the second-half of this evening’s win over Carlow.

“Conditions were really difficult out there tonight,” he said in his post-match interview with eir Sport following their 0-20 to 0-9 success in Netwatch Cullen Park. “There was a lot of rain during the day, the pitch was saturated and there was a very difficult breeze.

“Look it, delighted with the lads that applied themselves. It was a tough night for hurling but they worked really hard and they got their rewards in the second-half.”

A second win from three outings keeps Kenny’s charges firmly in contention for the business end of the competition and they will welcome Wexford to Croke Park next Saturday evening.

“We’ve Wexford and Clare to go now. Two really good games. That’s what we’re looking for this time of year, them really competitive games.

“We got a really competitive outing down here tonight and next Saturday night in Croke Park will be a really good game against Wexford and all the guys are looking forward to it.”
