Kerry forward Stephen O’Brien has been cleared to play in next month’s All-Ireland SFC final against Dublin.

O’Brien was facing a one-match ban after picking up his third black card of the season in the latter stages of the Munster champions’ semi-final victory over Tyrone this past Sunday.

However, an appeal launched this evening against one of those black cards, which he received in the Super 8s against Meath two weeks ago, was successful as Kerry boss Peter Keane confirmed to RTE Sport tonight.

"Stephen O'Brien's black card appeal has been successful,” Keane stated. "The black card he received against Meath has been rescinded. Thankfully he's available to play in the All-Ireland final. 

"You don't want to see any fellow miss out on the playing of the big day and Stephen has been very good for us this year and over the last few years he's been a key player for Kerry. 

"This year in particular he's been playing very well for us."
