Dublin manager Jim Gavin says he withdrew Cian O'Sullivan from this evening's All-Ireland SFC semi-final against Galway as "a precaution".

The Kilmacud Crokes defender pulled up with a hamstring problem in the 26th minute of the Dubs' 1-24 to 2-12 victory over the Tribesmen and was replaced by Michael Fitzsimons.

Speaking after the game, Gavin said the experienced defender will undergo a medical assessment over the next few days.

"Just a bit of tightness in his leg, so just a precaution," Gavin is quoted saying by the42.ie. "In a championship game in that atmosphere you need to get him off and put a fresh player in.

"I don't know, we'll just let the medical protocols kick in and over the next 72 hours we'll reassess."

On the game itself, he added: "We prepared well for the game and that probably showed in the performance. Coming into the game we had been so impressed with what Galway have brought. This year they have been really, really impressive and we knew it was going to be a really tight game."
