Galway need goals - Meehan

Galway's Eamonn Brannigan and Barry McHugh celebrate a goal against Kerry

Former Galway star Michael Meehan reckons the Tribesmen need to find their goal-scoring touch if they are to score their first senior football championship win over Dublin since 1934 this evening.

The Connacht champions head for Croke Park as rank outsiders at 6/1 to dethrone the Dubs and book their first All-Ireland slot in 17 years.

Speaking to the Irish Daily Mirror, their former ace attacker is expecting things to be "fast and furious" from the start at headquarters.

"I expect them to put it up to Dublin a big way and I think the start of the game is important," said Meehan.

"Dublin will have seen what happened last weekend and they might go and try and kill off Galway very early on. It's going to be fast and furious. Galway will need to absorb that and need to score goals and if they score goals I think they can win.

"I think it's going to take goals. I want Galway to be in the mix coming down the line and just see."

He added: "If Dublin pull out their 'A' game it's a different story but you have to live in hope."
