Rock trusts in Comerford

Dean Rock has total faith that Evan Comerford can stand in capably for Stephen Cluxton in the Leinster final, if required.

The Dublin captain is doubtful for Sunday week's clash with Laois, having sustained a lower back injury against Longford on Sunday, but Rock is confident that Jim Gavin has a more-than-capable back-up option in 20-year-old Comerford.

The Ballymun Kickhams clubman replaced the stricken Cluxton last weekend and will get a first championhip start on June 24th if Dublin's longest-serving player fails to make a full recovery:

"There is great faith in Evan, so the sensible thing was to take Stephen off at the time, just to recover and recuperate, but he should be okay in two weeks," Rock told The Irish Daily Star.

"Evan has got great exposure in the national league. He has played a number of games away from home and in Croke Park so that has been great for his progression as well.

"Look, obviously accidents can happen, but when Evan was called upon everyone in the group was pretty happy about him coming in. He is very sure of himself and we knew he would do a good job."
