Corofin's Liam Silke was announced as the inaugural AIB GAA Club Footballer of the Year last night while Cuala's Sean Moran was honoured with the hurling equivalent.
The AIB GAA Club Players' Awards banquet was held in Croke Park and there was cause for further celebration for Corofin and Cuala following their respective All-Ireland Club successes.
Selected by a cross section of GAA media, Andy Merrigan Cup winners Corofin had six representatives on the football team which was unveiled two weeks ago.
Silke - who was selected at corner-back - was announced as the Footballer of the Year winner.
Six Cuala players made the hurling team and centre-back Moran was a deserving recipient of the individual honour in recognition of his immense leadership role in Cuala's impressive defence of the AIB GAA All-Ireland club title.
The awards were presented by GAA President John Horan and Head of Retail Banking in AIB Denis O'Callaghan.
