Conor McManus says Monaghan's impressive league form will count for nothing if they fail to deliver come summertime.

The Farney County have secured top-flight status for a fifth successive season, seeing off Kerry, Tyrone and Donegal in the process. They close their Division One campaign in Croke Park this weekend before travelling to Omagh in May to face the Red Hands in an Ulster quarter-final:

"Look, we'd a good league campaign last year, there was a lot of talk about us but ultimately we'd a poor championship," All Star attacker McManus told The Irish News.

"That's the challenge for us here now, getting our heads down over the next six or seven weeks and looking forward to the championship game against Tyrone.

"We don't get caught up in what the media or anybody else is saying. We've been tipped to go down fairly regularly over the last number of years but there's quality in that dressing room, it's just about getting it out of ourselves.

"We'll go to Croke Park next weekend and try and improve on what we've been doing. That was far from the perfect performance [against Donegal], we've a lot to work on and there's no better place to do that than against the Dubs and see where you're really at."
