The Late Jim Trimble
It is with profound sorrow and deep regret that we record the sudden passing of Mr Jim Trimble, Abbey Park, Kilkeel, whose death occurred on 28th March at Daisy Hill Hospital, Newry.
Jim was born on 15 November, 1937 and brought up in Annalong. He was a loving and devoted husband to Carmel whom he met in 1968 and married one year later.
he was proud dad of Sean, partner Brenda, Siobhan, husband Roy (both Kilkeel) and Wendy, husband Rodney (Dundrum). Jim was a loving granda to Shannon, Emma, Chloe and Andrew.
He is also survived by his brother Danny and sisters Frances, Betty, Angela and Ann. He was predeceased by his sisters Carly McAllister and Peggy Pue.
Jim or 'Bo', as he was well known around Kilkeel Harbour, left school at the age of 14 and started out to work. He had a number of different jobs in his life. He went to sea as a fisherman and then to stoneyard in Annalong. He then returned to the job he loved most, and that was fishing. From there he went to a local fish processing plant for the remaining 20 years of his working life.
He was a keen sportsman through the years, playing football for Annalong and in 1979 he became a member of Kilkeel Golf Club. He enjoyed his daily round on the course with his usual fourball.
In 1996, Jim had to give up work and his golf due to illness which he battled bravely. He didn't let this beat him as he went on to enjoy family life, most especially with his four grandchildren whom he loved and adored.
He will be sadly missed by all who knew him, especially his wife and family.
The largely attended funeral, which was evidence of the high esteem in which Jim was held in the community, took place on 30 March at St Colman's Church Massforth with Fr Tony Fitzsimons officiating.
