Kingdom to Croker. Well done to all our runners and children; thank you to all our drivers and helpers and sponsors and to Carlingford Scenic Ferry for transporting us across the lough.

The main sponsor was Concrete Structural Works (Australia), while partner sponsors were Century Electrical Wholesale, Pat Rodgers Ltd, Cormac Murnion & Co, CCL Services, Bakertilly Mooney Moore, JOH Construction, Kellihers Electrical Rexel Group, Bayview Building Sustainability, Necon Water Purification Systems, Cunningham Butchers, McShane Solicitors, Ye Olde Ship Inn, First Trust Bank.

The event got underway on Friday with lots of children at Dunavil for an exercise class on the pitch with Declan Clarke of Conquer Fitness followed by several laps of the grounds, then the first set of relay runners with hurl and football headed off to the Ferry while the children enjoyed refreshments and rewards for bringing in their sponsor money.

Five sets of relay runners completed the Friday section of Kingdom to Croker finishing at 8pm in Castlebellingham. The Saturday section got underway at 7am with the hurl and football passed onto the next set of relay runners and eventually making its way to Dublin where the runners met up with the children who had travelled to Croke Park and after a walk down Clonliffe Road and onto Jones Road, Emma Kelly Stadium Safety Officer welcomed the 200 strong An Ríocht party into Croke Park, for lots of whom this was a first ever visit, but hopefully not their last.

The aim of Kingdom to Croker was to raise awareness and money for youth development and three charities of major significance to our community – Suicide Down to Zero, Autism Support Kilkeel and Southern Area Hospice. Its not too late to donate, as the Kingdom to Croker account will remain open until 1st October, contact the club for details.

Congratulations to Nicole Kelly, one of four Down players nominated for a Camogie Soaring Star Award.
