The winners paved their way for this victory in the last twenty minutes of the first half outscoring the home side 1-7 to 0-1.

The opening ten minutes produced two goals, John McGeough firing home for the visitors. His effort was matched by Meath full forward Conor Frayne a minute latter.

For the remainder of the half the Mourne men dominated through the midfield pairing of Liam Middleton and Ross Carr. Ryan McAvoy (0-1), Seamus Loughran (0-3), Ross Carr (0-1), Liam Kerr (0-1) and Aaron Devlin (1-1) accounted for that scoring spree that effectively killed this game.

The home side faired better in defence in the second half and had two very good goal scoring chances in the opening ten minutes but Frayne and Jordan Morris shot wide.

Frayne, who was Meath's only scorer on the night got the Royals third point in the 7th minute while his opposite number Kerr kicked four second half points for the winners.

Meath are away to Armagh in their final group game while impressive Down travel to Monaghan.
