Portaferry club notes

December 10, 2018

Lotto numbers this week 2, 9, 13, 15. No jackpot winner this week but Lotto consolation of £30 this week goes to Rosie Greenlees.  Next draw date 16/12/18.  Next weeks jackpot is now £3700. It would be a nice wee cash bump just in time for Christmas. Thanks for the continued support, £1 to enter.

Christmas Draw and Auction – the Senior Camogs and Hurlers are running a draw to raise funds for Club Development. This is on Sunday 23rd December and Santa will be in attendance. To date we have a signed All Ireland Limerick jersey and a Kilkenny Jersey for the auction. Tickets available from Senior Camogs and Hurlers, Peninsula Sports and the Club Bar.

U21 Hurling final - The boys played our neighbours Ballycran in the U21 Hurling final in Belfast on Sunday 9th Dec. Unfortunately Ballycran ran out winners on a scoreline of 2-24 to 2-10. The fellas worked hard to the end but just couldn't get themselves back into the game after a strong 2nd half push from Ballycran. That was the final game for the 2018 season. Hard luck boys and to Sean  and Peter.

Club Gear - Collection night for any club gear that has been ordered will take place in Tuesday 18th and Wednesday 19th. Time to be confirmed next week. Please keep an eye out on all our social media outlets for anymore information

******Applications - are now being accepted for Senior/Reserve Hurling and Camogie management positions. All applications to club secretary, Sean Young.*******

Our annual juvenile presentation took place last Saturday 1st December and our special guest this year was Kilkenny Hurling Goalkeeper Eoin Murphy. Well done to everyone who won awards on the night and throughout the season. Thank you to all the mentors, coaches, managers, the juvenile commitee and a big thank you to the parents for all their help and cooperation. The future in the club certainly looks bright. Well done again and good luck for the incoming season.

Ports Do Strictly – this is a notice from the Fundraising Committee. If we don’t get male dancers soon, the show won’t happen. This is the last call for male dancers for Strictly 2019? All our men are very shy and it looks like the show won’t happen next year. If you are interested let Anne Fitzsimmons know ASAP. Don’t nominate other people unless you have asked them. Spread the word. Thank you.

Juveniles 2019 – the AGM has taken place and a big thank you to all those who attended and have taken on roles for next season. There are some vacant positions. Anyone that is interested in filling any of the vacant positions, helping with any team or knows of anyone interested please contact Karol Keating ASAP.

Did you know that if you text 741741 when you are feeling depressed or suicidal, a crisis worker will text you back immediately and continue to text with you? Many people, especially younger people, don't like talking on the phone and would feel much more comfortable texting. This is a free service for anyone
