Eamonn Burns will serve a touchline ban against Tipperary on Sunday.
The Down manager is facing an eight-week ban for pushing a Cavan player during last Saturday night's stormy Allianz Football League Division 2 encounter at Kingspan Breffni, although the during of the suspension has yet to be confirmed.
Burns was sent off just before half-time by Kerry referee Padraig O'Sullivan for shoving Oisin Kiernan in the neck, and is expected to be charged under Rule 7.2 (c) IIa, which covers any type of physical interference with an opposing player or team official.
"Eamonn won't be on the line on Sunday," Down chairman Sean Rooney told the Irish News.
"He'll be there as manager of the team, but he won't be on the touchline. I don't know whether Eamonn will seek a hearing or not, but the GAA seems to be dealing severely with pitch encroachments from anybody on the sideline.
"The offer hasn't come from Croke Park yet. Whatever it is, it'll be dealt with. I haven't seen the referee's report yet."
