Anyone care to comment on the following?

49mins...Leo McLoone comes on as a sub
51mins..McLoone comes in late on Joe McMahon and strikes him on back of head with closed fist.
55mins..After lengthy delay McMahon leaves the pitch with concussion.
56mins..McLoone yellow carded for striking.
61 mins..McLoone is replaced.

Was he sent on to do a certain "job"?

absolutely not. Leo's not that type of player.he's just back from a serious injury himself. i think your'e trying to blame somebody and unfortunately Leo is an easy target

Think Mc Loone was taken off as Mc Guinness was afraid it would be a repeat of the Murphy red card incident in the Cavan game and and the referee would try to even things up after Hughes was sent off. Mc Loone is not a dirty player and that was not intentional.

breaker i am making reference to one incident...any discussion on others is a seperate issue and you should raise those on another thread...so mcloone did not intend to hit mcmahon?...joemc mahon jumps for the ball...he catches it..brings the ball to his chest...his 2 feet come to the ground...mcloone then comes in from behind and catches him on the head...

I would rather not mayotyroneman because if I was to make a thread for every tyrone 'incident' I would be here for quite a while!

ufc...why are u asking me to dry my eyes?...i have already stated on another donegal thread that i feel donegal are an excellent team and edged an excellent game of football yesterday...i am simply referring to one incident...do you care to give an analysis of it or is that beyond you?...breaker my friend you seem pre-occupied with tyrone misdemeanours..once again i ask you to address the mcloone incident...one reasonable school of thought here is that mcguinness was afraid he would get a second yellow card, that may well be the case but could it also be the cast that mcloone had done the job he was sent on to do, and yes then take him off to make sure he didnt get the second yellow

Not sure if Mcloone meant it, but think he was extremely lucky to avoid getting sent-off, reckless challenge. Hope McMahon has a speedy recover.

mayotyroneman - when i saw it first in real-time i thought it was just a mistimed challenge but after looking at it on the replay i'm not sure now whether he intended it or not it was so late...i certainly don't think he is that type of player. Also after the game he looked in tears (i could be wrong) and was being consoled/spoken to by Jim McGuinness - don't think he would have been that way if he knew that he was being sent out there to do a job.

Mayotyroneman, I don't think Leo was sent on to do a job! Coming on in a game like that you can't not expect a young player to be throwing himself at everything. Personally, i think it was reckless and he could have been sent off, but you do get challenges like that in GAA and you get on with it. Unfortunately Joe got it on a weak spot and i believe this was a huge turning point in the game. Murphy got that small amount of space needed to help destroy teams. Donegal got the rub of the green regarding big decisions on sunday and i hope the final is a good game, don't think much between the teams on their days.

He didn't Mean it. Football is played at such a tempo that a second off the mark results in a bad tackle. Leo is just back from injury and still unfit and made a clumsy challenge. Firstly i don't think Jim would ask that of a player and secondly i don't think Leo is a player that would do that. He is a good skillful, hardy player but not dirty.

@mayotyroneman its hard to avoid referring to other incidents in replying to your nasty inference. If you seen Leo McLoone afterr the match he was distraught and that wasnt the impact a good young player like him wanted to make. The win at all cost cynicism that comes to you as second nature is not in these players. You are used to the last ten years of this type of stuff and its only natural you still think this way. Its a disgusting idea.
Joe McMahon is a great footballer and I genuinelyhope he is okay and comes back quickly to take Tyrone onwards in the qualifiers for we havent seen the last of Tyrone yet

I think the notion that a manager would send a man on deliberately and with the sole objective of injuring one player is ridiculous especially in such a close game. Would McGuiness of known that McLoone could do it and only get a yellow card and then be able to take him off again. The resubstitution of him was a reaction after the yellow knowing that we couldn't afford to go down to 14.

donegael...don't be getting to uppity...it happens..the question had to be asked...i would like to think that he didn't mean it and wasn't sent on to do it, but the fact is that mcmahon was having a blinder and was a very steadying influence in the tyrone full back line...mcguinness had to do something about it,and i just hope it wasn't pre-meditated for the sake of donegal football...god knows derry will take cynicism to a whole new level..i hope and i believe donegal will win ulster now...if they can keep their tenacity and tackling going, they will overcome a derry team which was flattered by poor armagh defending...
there is no doubt that mcloone threw a punch....he certainly wasn't going for the ball...that really can't be disputed...as one of the posters said i just hope it was reckless...good luck in the final.

For a moment you had me thinking that you might be a sensible sort who might actually be on to something with this thread. But then you went and ruined the illusion by saying that Derry would be taking the cynicism to a whole new level. Did you fall off your high horse and bang your head man? Ha ha. While someone fetches the smelling salts, remember what your guys brought to the game > http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gwmErywscOc .

Still laughing. No more posts like that today please. I need to get some work done. Hahahahahaha....

Classic link there from hermann, hilarious, showing the absurdity of Tyrone claiming the moral high ground.

Leo McLoone was reckless, I feel, but not intent on injuring Joe McMahon and just about deserved to stay on the park (although he couldn't have complained if he had been sent off). I've seen McLoone play a couple of times and he's a very good footballer and a big strong lad but wouldn't strike me as a dirty or cynical player. On the day, he seemed a bit too wound-up or over eager to make a mark when he was introduced, having missed a lot of football recently through injury.

Anyone have a video of the incident? I don't have high hopes for a reply here, because it's bloody impossible to find any Donegal clips on the internet.
