Carlin, Shaun

June 30, 2004
The late Shaun Carlin On Sunday 2nd May the tragic and untimely death occurred of our friend and teammate Shaun Carlin or "T" as he was affectionately known. An affable and charismatic young man, his passing has left a huge void in our community and created an immeasurable loss in his family. Shaun was a fun loving person who had an insatiable appetite for life. He was a dedicated and committed individual who applied himself totally to the job in hand. In his short life his achievements reached great heights both on the playing field and in the workplace. On the sports field Shaun's leadership qualities were evident from a very early age. He was an integral and valued member of both Castlefin Celtic FC and Robert Emmets GFC. His loyalty, dedication and sheer will to win was an inspiration to everyone who had the privilege to know him or play alongside him. Shaun had numerous successes at under age level both in Gaelic Football and Soccer. He was a pivotal member of the 1993 Castlefin Celtic U-12 Lifford & District League winning team and the 1995 Robert Emmets U-14 County Championship winning side. The highlight in Shaun's sporting career came in 2002 when he captained Robert Emmets to their Junior Championship success. He also played a major role in helping Castlefin Celtic secure promotion in the 2001 and 2004 seasons. Shaun received the Robert Emmets Minor and Senior Player of the Year awards with Castlefin Celtic for his endeavours on the soccer field. Shaun was determined, ambitious and never afraid of hard work. He had recently established a joinery business with a close friend.. His work on the new Castlefin Resource Centre and his voluntary contribution to a local graveyard improvements project, will forever remind us of his many talents. "T" epitomised everything that is good and honest in today's world. Our sense of loss is at times difficult to bear, although it in no way compares to the pain being suffered by his parents Grace and Kevin, his sister Margaret and his brother Adrian. Out thoughts are with them and with the extended family at this time. May he rest in Peace. Ní ndeana Dia trocaire air. Roibeard Eimeid CLG Castlefin Celtic FC.
