Stability is the key for Donegal

Donegal chairman Sean Dunnion

Donegal chairman Sean Dunnion believes that reappointing Rory Gallagher for a further three-year term brings about stability in the county.

It is widely acknowledged that Donegal are embarking on a transition period and Dunnion feels that a change of manager at this stage would not help their cause.

Gallagher was voted back in by delegates on a majority of 64 to 4 and the Fermanagh native will now set about the rebuilding process.

"We all accept that after a number of years of great success that Donegal is going to go through a rebuilding process over the next few years," Dunnion told the Donegal Democrat.

"We have a number of quality young players coming through from successful minor and under-21 teams of recent years and it is going to take them time to establish themselves at senior level.

"We are all going to have to be patient and give them time to bed in and that does not mean that we don't still expect to continue to be right up there with the top teams."
