Gallagher wary of McManus

Monaghan Conor McManus celebrates victory over Donegal in the 2015 Ulster SFC Final.

Donegal manager Rory Gallagher rates Monaghan's All Star attacker Conor McManus "in the top one per cent".

When the two sides meet in Saturday night's Ulster SFC semi-final at Clones, Clontibret ace McManus is the man who'll carry the biggest threat to the Tir Chonail defence:

"He is right up there in the top one per cent of forwards in the country," Gallagher admits in The Irish News. "There is no doubt about that and he is clearly a marquee forward and has delivered consistently on big occasions.

"His free-taking is top drawer and is a huge threat and in a low-scoring game in last year's Ulster final, he got three points which is a huge return in those circumstances. That is like getting six or seven points in another match.

"And of course he feeds off other players as well that provide the opportunities for him but he is a really top class player. And he does not give you much chance from play or frees and will have to be very tightly marked.

"We just need to stop the ball getting to him, but the entire Monaghan team has really developed over the years."
