While it remains relatively quiet on the playing front, U16 boys football has begun, the Div. 1 team were at home to Milford on Sunday in their first game after last week's games fell victim to the weather. The lads got their season off to a good start with a big win and they are free this week due to an uneven number of teams in Div. 1, their next game is at home to St. Mary's, Convoy on Sunday March 25th. The U16 Development team will begin their season on Bank Holiday Monday (19th) with a home game v Glenfin at 12 noon.

Underage hurling commences on Thursday, March 22nd with Minor (U18) and U14 games. The Minors will host Burt in their opening game with the U14's travelling to Four Masters. Games throw-in at 6pm.

The adult football leagues get underway on Good Friday (March 30th) with our Seniors at home to neighbours Glenswilly (6pm) before they make the short journey to Milford on the Sunday for a meeting with Danny O'Donnell's Intermediate Championship winners.

There will be another Membership Registration this Tuesday night, March 13th in the Clubhouse between 7pm and 8pm. It is vital at this stage that all players, managers / coaches / mentors are registered, or they will be unable to participate in training and matches.

Our Academies are up and running for 2018 and new members are always welcome to both academies. The Friday Evening Hurling & Camogie Academy is on between 6:30pm and 7:30pm each week with the younger groups taking place in the Aura and the older groups on the new Astro facility in O'Donnell Park, the Academy will take a short break after training on March 23rd and will resume on the grass in O'Donnell Park on Friday, April 13th. The Century Cinemas Sunday Morning Football Academy is on each week on the Astro pitch in O'Donnell Park with the U6, U7 and U8 (boys only) groups on between 11am and 12 noon and the U9 & U10 Boys and U8 and U10 Girls on between 12 noon and 1pm. Local school teams that have a big representation from our club have been performing well in recent weeks. Coláiste Ailigh Senior Boys football have qualified for their All-Ireland Final after a superb late comeback against Rathkeale (Limerick) saw them force extra-time and they held on to win by a goal and book their place in the Final. They will take on St. Cuan's, Castleblakeney (Galway) in the Senior D Final on Saturday week, March 24th with venue tbc. Loreto, Letterkenny U16 ½ girls lost their Ulster B Final against St. Catherine's, Armagh early last week but a good year nonetheless for the girls to reach an Ulster Schools final. St. Eunan's College will contest the Danske Bank McLarnon Cup (B) Final against Holy Trinity, Cookstown next Monday, March 19th in Armagh. Should they win they will advance to an All-Ireland semi-final.
