Players not on the County Panel
Phillip O'Connell - Glen, an absolute class act, great defender. Has the pace to match any forward too.

Aye your right the place was dead hardly any atmosphere last night was as much noise there as there is in mass. About 10 wains beside us kept shouting let's go derry let's go and everyone looked at them as if they shouldn't be talking, I know a team doesn't win with support but it encourages them on. A bit more support and noise might make a difference

Players not on the County Panel
I put the question, what players currently in the county not on the panel warrant a place on the panel? I have ones in mind but I want to see people response before I put mine up.

Look forward to interesting reading.

Relegation - I don't honestly believe we will get relegated but I do know that we are a long way off from competing for honours in Ulster never mind the All-Ireland. The team has a lot of weaknesses that need addressed and it will take time to address them. We need a commanding full-back, a ball carrying midfielder with scoring potential, two half forwards, we have a full-forward line that need to work as a team and not individuals.

Last night Mayo attacked Derry with ease and Derry couldn't match their superior fitness levels, we had half-backs kicking balls aimlessly into the forward line and forwards waiting for the ball instead of attacking it, what more can I say. A lot of work needs to be done before we meeet Armagh.

No Quick Fix
Hit the nail on the head Derryman - I totally agree with everything you say. Mayo looked a superior fitter side than Derry in all parts of the field. I know we can use the league to experiment to a certain extent but what was that last night? Players that played so well against Tyrone seem to have lost confidence, players playing out of position and no direction to our play does not bode well for the future.

Kevin McCloy has been a great servant to Derry football but unfortunately he has his best years behind him and I think he should be on the panel but not starting. We need to find a full-back and quickly. It is also not good enough to have players deciding when and when not deciding to put a bit of effort in. We have the same problems we had six years ago. Players are looking to Paddy Bradley to get them out of a hole instead of taking the responsibility themselves. We are carrying the ball into tackles instead of the quick release, aimless kicking etc.

I also was at the under 21 match against Tyrone and I think it is time to introduce them into the fold with the idea of putting a successful squad together that can challenge for honours in two/three years time.

Wed 25th March not sure of the venue and time although derryman said its a home game - Fermanagh are supposed to be a decent enough side -

absolutely woeful performance last night it seems we learned nothing from the kerry match the previous week - we are now realistically relegation candidates - we are away to Monaghan now next week who are also fighting relegation so this now will be a dogfight against an all too familiar opponent then we are home to Cork and away to Galway and we will be doing well to get anything from those matches - with the championship match against Armagh only 8 weeks away there is a lot of work to be done between then and now and relegation wont exactly be a confidence booster especially as it seems Armagh are on course to pass us on the way up to div 1

How will Derry go against Fermanagh. I dont know what they are like myself but I have heard that they are quite a good side. I am hoping that the home game will give us an edge.

While disappointed with that game last night, Derry were never really in it. Within the first couple of minutes the many times that the referees decision went against Derry was unbelievable, Derry looked tired where as mayo were 'running rings round them' I would of thought that Mayo at home in Celtic Park would of been not easy but easy enough I was wrong. Derry were lucky with that last second goal to lower the gap. Other than that it was a good match some good mayo supporters haha made me chuckle. A lot of Eoghan Rua children down beside me singing enjoyed them too 'let's go derry let's go' I'm beginning to smell Division 2 I hate to admit. Oh sure its early yet.

No Quick Fix
Derry Management and their supporters have to stop kidding themselves that there is some magic formula or wand that can be applied to this team and they will suddenly become a winning team. We have got to start looking at our weaker positions and start looking for players to groom for them. The mid field has been very bad in the last three games. Patsy Bradley and Fergal Doherty are great triers but they dont seem to want to carry the ball into the danger areas. They never look like they are potential scorers. Paddy bradley needs to pass the ball and Damien Cassidy needs to deal with this sooner rather than later. Kevin Mcloy is unfortunately past his prime but probably still worth his place on the squad should not be looked to as the person to build a defence around. I had a very enjoyable experience watching the U21 in the lions den last week and I believe that the immediate future should be a long term vision of team building not campaigning to win silverware. The last three managers have all attempted to gain immediate sucess by trying to build a team around Players that were too long around and have developed attitudes that they were gauranteed their place when they wanted it. There will be a long road ahead before we even win two games in a row if this current management is not strong enough to deal with the Icons and talismans of Derry football.

Disapponiting stuff from Derry. Fair play to Mayo they had a game plan which worked. Derry had no answer to the packed defence and quick break. We looked suspect at full back for a fair bit of the match.

like you derryman i was cagey about this game - i knew we had the players to win the game but as has been the case all too often at u21 level in recent years we have failed to perform whereas tyrones record at this level goes without saying - also the fact it was at healey pk i thought would see tyrone through - i remember being hugely disappointed with the u21`s in 2004 (this was the team that had won the minor all ireland title in 2002 ) they were being widely tipped to win ulster that year (Lynch O`kane etc) they lost to fermanagh in the first round up at brewster pk and bowed out meekly - so there is no point beating tyrone and then losing in the first round proper to our old friends Fermanagh - I followed the 1997 U21 team that won the all ireland title (our last success at this level ) culminating in victory against Meath - those heady days of the `90`s can return but only if we build properly on wed nights victory and keep the conveyor belt continuous - Doire abĂș
