I see there is absolutely no discussion on the actual games in the Derry championship this year. Amazing how much time and effort so called fans put into bickering over issues off the field rather than discussing games. Maybe this is because they get more kicks out of petty point scoring, who knows?

Over the weekend we had several championship games and not one iota of reaction on here. Very bizarre.

For the regular posters it begs the question, are ye true fans on here?

Unfortunately, I have been unable to attend matches due to work commitments. I have seen the scorelines but heard no more. I'm sure some posters must have attended the games, any reports? Any views at all on the championship this year?

Tis a strange page the Derry hoganstand page....
Id much rather talk about the Derry club championship than the county team to be honest.
Only seen one game which was Slaughtneil/ Coleraine, Coleraine won with a point to spare.

Glenullin are my tip for the championship if Ballinderry are out and between those two if ballinderry are in.

Glenullin are favourites, but don't rule Bellaghy or Screen out either!

ah bosch good to see that someone on here does in fact attend games! I for one am very surprised that Slaughtneil are out at this stage. I take it they were badly hit by injuries or suspensions? Would not have thought that Coleraine would be up to much as they are not long out of intermediate.

Niamh and Doiregurl have you any opinions on the games played thus far?

The glenullin match was a good one to watch on Saturday night in Dungiven. Pleanty of people from both Glenullin and Swatragh should be on the Derry senior team!

Swatragh vs Magherafelt- Can't see past Swatragh, although Magherafelt beat Lavey by 6 points in a recent league game I would still go with Swa by 4

Ballinascreen vs Ballinderry- Screen will end Ballinderry's season, they were less than impressive against Banagher and since returning to the league their discipline still hasn't improved. Screen by 3

Kilrea vs Loup- Loup are a shadow of their former self, and Kilrea are a team on the up, I expect Kilrea to win it and wil it well. Kilrea by 6

Lavey vs Coleraine- Probably the most evenly matched of the round, as a Lavey man I would have to give ourself the nod...Colreraine will be tough but I hope Cailean and Kevin O Neill can step up to the plate and lead us to the quarter finals, Lavey by one.

So we have reached the quarter final stage:

Bellaghy v Magherafelt
Dungiven v Coleraine
Ballinderry v Glenullin
Newbridge v Loup

The Genius is surprised to see Coleraine and Newbridge still in contention, rather than Ballinascreen and Slaughtneil, for example. A bit of novelty value there. One must assume the usual suspects will be there at the end though.

Can anyone provide The Genius with recent match reports as he is far from home and out of the Loup, please excuse the pun.

Also, predictions, people, please!

So we have reached the quarter final stage:

Bellaghy v Magherafelt
Dungiven v Coleraine
Ballinderry v Glenullin
Newbridge v Loup

Here goes: probably a mile out but:

Bellaghy fairly handy - maybe by 4 or 5
Dungiven by 2 or 3
Draw - splinters are killing me
Loup by 3 or 4

I'll prepare for all the slagging come Sunday night.

for once my predictions were not a million miles off with Glenullin winning a cracker at Celtic Park. not dismissing the teams left in, but it seems to point to another Glenullin Bellaghy Final. Anyone outside of Dungiven,Coleraine and the Loup disagree?

From watching Dungiven last night i wouldnt give them a chance agaisnt Glenullin.
Might be easier for them to lift themselves for a bigger team like Glenullin instead of Coleraine but on last nights form its hard to see them beat the glen.

Not fair my last post. 15 against 15 men any team has a chance and i have probably just got carried away with what i saw on Sunday. And before you ask i am not a Glenullin man. But if Glenullin reproduce anything near the way they played on Sunday night, then Dungiven will have to play exceptionally well to remain on their coat tails. But hey!! Stranger things have happened.
