Derry 5-12

Armagh 2-13

Holders Derry came from ten points down to defeat Armagh in tonight's Ulster U20FC quarter-final at Owenbeg.

The reigning Danny Murphy Cup champions looked to be heading out of the championship at the first hurdle when the visitors hit two quick-fire goals through Cian McConville and Conor Turbit to lead by 2-10 to 0-6 after 40 minutes.

But Derry, who could call on ten of their starting 15 that beat Armagh in last year's decider, suddenly burst into life and rattled off 3-2, including three goals in succession, to take the lead with 10 minutes remaining!

Paul Cassidy, Lorcan McWilliams and Keelan Friel supplied those goals for Derry who were 0-8 in 0-5 in arrears at half-time but outscored their opponents by 5-7 to 2-5 after the break.

Team-captain Padraig McGrogan and Ethan Doherty raced through the Armagh defence for further goals near the end.

They will now face Fermanagh who were surprise winners over Donegal in tonight's other last-eight clash.
