Donegal's Niall O'Donnell with Donal Keogan of Meath

It was a big day in the national football league, with two finals taking place as well as a high-stakes promotion shoot-out.

At Croke Park, Leitrim locked horns with Derry in the Division Four final (3pm) followed by Donegal's Division Two decider date with Meath (5pm). All four teams were already safely promoted but were keen to round off their successful league campaigns by grabbing some national silverware.

Meanwhile, the stakes were even higher at Drogheda, where Louth and Westmeath were involved in a straight shoot-out for promotion to Division Two. The Lake County needed only a draw from this rescheduled Round Six fixture to seal promotion and a meeting with Laois in the Division Three final, while the Wee County would advance if they prevailed.
