Derry manager Damien McErlain has expressed his frustration over the fact that his charges will get very little credit if they do lift the FL4 title on Saturday afternoon.

In contrast to their opponents Leitrim who are expected to bring thousands of supporters to Croke Park, there isn’t much hype about the game in Derry.

McErlain feels that the players deserve a lot more support even though they were red hot favourites to come straight back out of the division.

“Leitrim will carry a huge crowd with them. I can’t imagine Derry carrying a huge crowd but we’ll get a few down and hopefully the supporters really get behind us because the players have worked savagely hard over the winter and deserve the support,” said McErlain.

“The players have been first class in that regard and deserve a bit of respect.”
