Derry manager Collie McGurk

Derry are on the look out for a new senior hurling manager following the announcement that Collie McGurk was stepping down from the position.

McGurk took over as manager at the start of the 2017 campaign and led Derry to Nicky Rackard and Ulster U21 success in 2017 but lost out to Kildare in the Christy Ring semi-final this year.

The county board were informed of McGurk’s decision at the weekend and they released a statement thanking him for the work that he had done.

“Derry GAA wish to confirm that senior hurling manager, Collie McGurk, has stepped down from this position, with immediate effect.

“We would like to sincerely thank Collie, his management and backroom teams, and all the players who have represented their county during this period. Nominations for the position of Derry senior hurling manager will be sought from our clubs in the coming weeks.”
