A dejected Matthew Ruane of Mayo after the defeat to Dublin at Croke Park

It was a big night in the national football league, with three intriguing Round Four clashes going down for decision.

In Division One, All-Ireland champions Dublin and table-topping Mayo renewed their fierce rivalry at Croke Park, while there was also a top-flight Ulster derby between Tyrone and Monaghan at Omagh.

It's been a while since Cork and Meath were fighting it out for national honours on an annual basis but there's still no love lost between the two counties and their latest encounter at Pairc Ui Rinn was another fascinating one, especially with the Royals sitting atop the Division Two Table and the Rebels adrift at the bottom.
