Dublin manager Tom Gray is the latest to voice his opposition to the U20 FC's peculiar new placement in the GAA calendar.
Last year’s U20 intercounty championship was staged between late June and early August but the Dubs opened their 2020 campaign on February 8th and the All-Ireland final is scheduled for March 28th.
Colm O’Rourke wrote in The Sunday Independent that the “under 20 championship is completely misplaced in February”, adding that it is being treated “as a Mickey Mouse competition by the GAA”.
Gray is in agreement, telling The Irish Daily Star that “the idea of having the competition at this time of year is an absolute disgrace. The thought process behind it … to say it was myopic would be understating it.”
