Here are our previews for this weekend's re-fixed football clashes after some harsh weather inclement caused their postponement.

Saturday, February 17th

McKenna Cup final

Donegal v Tyrone, Athletic Grounds, 6pm

Saturday's sole football fixture was due to take place in January and has had to be moved from Celtic Park to Armagh's Athletic Grounds in the meantime.

Tyrone scored what could end up being a vital league win over Kildare last Sunday, but it has since been revealed that it came at a big cost with Tiernan McCann set to be sidelined for at least two months with a cracked kneecap.

With Michael Murphy recently returned, Donegal are unlucky not to have picked up points somewhere from their last three outings and would love nothing more on Saturday night to get one over on their rivals whom are chasing their seventh success in-a-row in this competition - and 16th overall.

Verdict: Tyrone

 

Sunday, February 18th

Allianz FL Division 1 round 3

Monaghan v Kerry, Inniskeen, 2.30pm

Monaghan upset Kerry when these two sides met in Killarney last year and the Kingdom will no doubt have a bit of revenge in the back of their minds when they make the long journey to Inniskeen this weekend.

The defending champions took maximum points from their first two games in Division 1 and are fancied to make it three wins on the bounce when they visit the Farney County.

Malachy O'Rourke introduced star forward Conor McManus off the bench for his team the last day and one would imagine his influence will be needed for a longer duration against the Munster champions.

On the opposite end, there is still a question mark over David Clifford's availability after the Fossa sensation missed out on IT Tralee's Sigerson Cup quarter-final loss to DIT two weeks ago with an injury picked up in the win over Mayo. Eamonn Fitzmaurice's men still get the nod for this one.

Verdict: Kerry

Allianz FL Division 2 round 3

Cavan v Meath, Kingspan Breffni, 2pm

A mere point in score difference separates these two in the Division 2 table with Meath presently sitting above their neighbours.

Last Sunday week's 14-point victory over a Clare side which drew with Cavan in Round 1 should rightly see the Royals heading to Kingspan Breffni as slight favourites, going on form, and the bookmakers have made it so by pricing the visitors at 10/11.

Last Saturday week marked Mattie McGleenan's first win as Cavan manager on home soil in a competitive game and his new-look side won't want to go down in this derby battle which could end up going right to the wire.

Verdict: Meath

Allianz FL Division 3 round 3

Derry v Offaly, Celtic Park, 2pm

Still without their Slaughtneil contingent, Derry have struggled so far in Division 3 but are hotly-fancied to pick up their first two points when Offaly visit Celtic Park on Sunday.

Like the Oak Leafers and Wexford, Stephen Wallace's men are awaiting their first points and sit bottom with a score difference of -19, which looks set to grow in this Round 3 re-fixture.

Verdict: Derry

Sligo v Fermanagh, Markievicz Park, 2pm

Fermanagh look to be flying under Rory Gallagher but Sunday will see them hit the road for the first time in this league campaign as they prepare for a tricky test against Sligo.

The Yeats men held off a spirited comeback from Wexford last time out to book their first win of the competition and should give the visiting Ernesiders a fairly stiff test.

Verdict: Fermanagh

Connacht FBD FL final

Roscommon v Galway, Dr Hyde Park 2pm

The form of these two teams in recent weeks is only suggesting one outcome at Dr Hyde Park on Sunday afternoon.

Roscommon's displays in Division 2 have been mediocre to say the least, having started the league campaign as second favourites for promotion and even favourites in the minds of many.

Galway, on the other hand, have put forth three excellent performances in Division 1 and reaped the full rewards thus far, only trailing Dublin at the top end of the table on score difference. A third win in-a-row (and ninth overall) in this competition would do nicely before Round 4.

Verdict: Galway
