my prediction of garrycastle remains on course after their wins v malachys and killucan
as for the other side all i can say is that st lomans wont be shaking in their boots after the shamrocks v tpass
game . two very poor teams and i have to say that tyrrellspass are extremly lucky to be still in the championship

You got that badly wrong Mick. So much for the Pass beating the dream team in the semi final.

agreed matthew but in my last post i said we were very lucky in the drawn game. in the second half
tonite we were a disaster . lorcan smith dictated the game and darragh daly frightened us
well done to shamrocks

Good to see Shamrocks have restored some pride in the jersey after some fairly dodgy outings. It does seem that Lomans only have to show up to win easily on all known form. A bit like Dublin......

Enjoyable game last night. Tyrrellspass looked comfortable at half time but fair dues to Shamrocks for coming back the way they did. Daragh Daly is a great target man as he's able to win ball no matter how it's put in. Will be interesting to see where they play him against Lomans, presuming he'll be fully fit.

More like the team with the better bench won the game. The quality of the subs Shamrocks could bring in made a huge difference.

T'pass mentally weak & tactically naive.

I was going to post this message after first round, I think we are seeing a change in the top heavy weights in Senior, For me the two top teams for the pass 10-15 years were Garrycastle and Tyrrellspass, they both had an all round teams with key men who could turn games and get scores eg Dessie Dolan and Martin Flangan. Lomans have that in a good team and One or two men who can get scores when really need at moment and I think will be a top team for the next number of years. Who will join them? Tpass and Gcastle key men are get on. mullingar sham. and kinnegad good defensive teams but have they one or two players who can get a score out of nothing when chips are down. time will tell. I think for the next couple of years tpass will struggle to stay senior and best hope is quaterfinals. gcastle while have good change of wining and should get to finals THIS year. but real struggle when Desie not with them so in next 2-3 yeras will follow Tpass.

Garrycastle will be challengers as long as Dessie is playing, however long that may be. Can't see Tyrrellspass winning it again for the foreseeable. Lomans should win a few over the coming years, with Shamrocks being their biggest challengers. The age profiles of both teams is quite young. Most of the clubs who are strongest at underage the past few years are not even senior (Moate, Rosemount, Tubberclair for example) so it's understandable that the dynamic is changing.

That's a big blow for Athlone yesterday. But they will be back up very soon, their underage is very strong: U14 Feile winners this year and their minors are odds on to win the minor championship as well.

valley 84 you seem to be happy that athlone are relegated . i am very sad to see a great club gone back to intermediate .
athlone are one of the great clubs in the county . who have provided great players to the county like rory o connel dobsie prendergast
matt scally aidan collins joe fallon etc so i hope they make a quick return to senior , where they belong

I'm not happy to see them go.
Nobody has a right to remain senior.

I think mickcunningham inadvertently hit the nail on the head with his last comment.
The problem [imo] is that Athlone is that they cared too much on the past - winning x amount of senior champions and had x amount of fantastic players.
This senior relegation play-off didn't come out of no-where. A few years ago they were in the same position, and as far as I recall a lucky goal was the difference between Tubberclair and them that day.
But to be fair, things are changing in Athlone and the current crop of u21, minor, u16, u14 are fantastic footballers.
Athlone do have a bright future - and let this be an air of warning for other clubs.
Forget about underage at your peril, but it will [as Athlone have found out] bite you in the arse sooner or later.
