Michael Ryan spent four years in charge of the Westmeath senior hurlers before stepping down last summer, but a special bond still exists between him and the players judging by this footage after the Lake County's Joe McDonagh opener against Offaly in Mullingar on Saturday.
Michael made the long trip up from his Waterford home to support his former charges as they romped to a 13-point victory over their midland rivals, and was one of the first to congratulate them - and his successor Joe Quaid - on the pitch afterwards.
