Fans make there way into Walsh Park for the Munster SHC clash between Waterford and Clare

Colligan club woman Patricia Walsh has become the first female chairperson of the Western Divisional Board of Waterford GAA.

Walsh spent the last four years as the Western Divisional Board secretary and has now made the step up to head the executive.

The Waterford News & Star reports that Walsh told delegates that it was a very proud moment for her and her family.

“I’m a proud Colligan woman. There’s a huge tradition within my family on both sides in relation to administration on the boards.

“My Mam was one of the first county board reps back in the late seventies and early eighties. My uncle Paddy was previously chairperson of the Western board and my grand uncle Dec Goode was county secretary for many years.”
