Coralstown/Kinnegad clubman Joe Giles has been named the new Westmeath minor football manager.

Giles takes over the role from Martin McCabe who has stepped down from the position and Westmeath Minor Board chairman Niall O’Brien stated that they feel that the former county footballer is the right man for the job.

“Joe is a true and true football man with lots of pedigree. He has enjoyed a lot of success with numerous teams down through the years, and he has an indepth knowledge of football within the county,” O'Brien told the Westmeath Independent.

“Joe has worked closely with the new senior football manager Jack Cooney in the past, and I think the two managers will establish links once again.”

Giles backroom team will consist of Damien McLoughlin (Kilbeggan Shamrocks), Eoin Farrell (Maryland), Fergal Kelly (Coralstown/Kinnegad) and John Duignan (Killucan).
